A candlelight vigil will be held at the Manhattan Beach Pier on June 3 in honor of the victims of the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. The vigil will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Lead organizer Victoria Geant is a Manhattan Beach resident and Robinson Elementary School parent.

"Everyone in the community is crushed by the tragic loss of all those young children and two teachers in Texas," said Geant. "It really hits too close to home for all of us parents here in Manhattan Beach. Our hearts are broken. This vigil is intended to be a source of healing for the community."

There will be LED candles available at the event, although attendees are welcome to bring their own.

Geant has been working with local school and church musical groups and is planning to have music and song at the vigil. Three acoustic singers confirmed thus far include Zeal, Izzy Escobar, and CLETUS.

Geant and other parents and students are also collaborating to create banners that bear the names of the victims of the shooting.

Geant said that she picked June 3 because it is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

"Our community is mourning," she said. "The next step will be to heal."
