A woman allegedly attacked a man with a machete outside of Target in Manhattan Beach on Thursday night; however, Manhattan Beach police have identified the suspect and emphasize that there is no current threat to public safety. The victim is in the hospital in stable condition.

The incident occurred at around 5:00 p.m., said Officer Christopher Ineguez, community affairs officer and public information officer for the Manhattan Beach Police. 

According to Ineguez, a male and female adult who had some kind of connection with each other got into a verbal altercation. The woman then allegedly attacked the man with a machete, causing injuries to his upper torso. The man was taken to a local hospital.

The woman fled in a vehicle, but police have been able to positively identify her, said Ineguez. Detectives are actively pursuing the investigation, he added, and there is no current threat to public safety.

The area outside one of the main entrances to Target was blocked off with crime tape for several hours on Thursday night while police worked on the scene.
