The Manhattan Beach Unified School District is ready to launch the new school year with additional leadership changes. MBUSD has named Kerry Riccio Aguero as its new director of student services; and Mira Costa High School has named Carolyn Seaton as an interim vice principal.
Aguero most recently served as assistant principal at Manhattan Beach Middle School. Prior to joining MBMS,
Aguero was an administrator at Bellflower Unified School District, where
she supported and led programs for students, staff, and families at
multiple K-12 alternative educational school sites.
In her new position, she will oversee
support services for students and families, including school
counseling, health services, student attendance, and disaster/emergency
preparation. She will also work with
community partners to promote MBUSD goals and services related to
health, safety, and social and emotional learning.
Aguero, an MBUSD parent and native of the South Bay, is currently pursuing her doctorate in education through Northeastern University.
Meanwhile, Seaton will join the Mira Costa High School team as interim vice principal. Seaton previously worked at MBUSD for 19 years in a variety of roles, including as principal and assistant principal of MBMS. She also worked at the district level as the chief academic officer of educational services and as executive director of human resources.
Most recently, she served for five years as superintendent in the Orinda Union School District.
Seaton replaces Jennifer Huynh, who stepped into the role of principal at Manhattan Beach Middle School.
