Manhattan Beach Celebrates 'Local Love,' Despite the Rain

The weekend's events also included a pet holiday costume parade, Mira Costa high school carolers, and numerous shopping deals and specials.

"Local Love Weekend was a resounding success," said Jill Lamkin, executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professional Association. "Throughout the holiday season, our downtown businesses are committed to bring our community local entertainment and experiences that big box stores can’t provide. We hope that everyone enjoys the experience of shopping in a small, connected city where every purchase makes a positive impact."

The golf carts worked their way from Pacific Elementary all the way through the streets of downtown, being greeted with waves and cheers by passers-by.
"The weather wasn't ideal, but it didn't stop some of us from getting together and celebrating the holidays and having fun," said parade organizer Shawn Giaconi.
