Downtown Manhattan Beach celebrated its "Local Love for the Holidays" weekend with festivities that drew shoppers, diners, and even a golf cart parade, despite patches of rain.

The weekend's events also included a pet holiday costume parade, Mira Costa high school carolers, and numerous shopping deals and specials.

"Local Love Weekend was a resounding success," said Jill Lamkin, executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professional Association. "Throughout the holiday season, our downtown businesses are committed to bring our community local entertainment and experiences that big box stores can’t provide. We hope that everyone enjoys the experience of shopping in a small, connected city where every purchase makes a positive impact."

Late Sunday afternoon, in the drizzle, a group of costumed revelers along with their decorated golf carts and cars came out to show their holiday spirit.

The golf carts worked their way from Pacific Elementary all the way through the streets of downtown, being greeted with waves and cheers by passers-by.

"The weather wasn't ideal, but it didn't stop some of us from getting together and celebrating the holidays and having fun," said parade organizer Shawn Giaconi.

The Golf Cart Crew worked with Downtown Manhattan Beach to award gift cards to carts with the best designs. The winners included:

Kristen Yoffe - "Festive Fan Favorite" ($100 Tabula Rasa gift card)

Hance Family - "Best Holiday Theme Team" ($100 Gum Tree gift card)

Mike Quagletti - "Most Creative Cart" ($100 Rock’N Fish gift card)

Shannon Wertz -  "Best Local Love Theme" ($200 The Arthur J gift card)

A "Christmas Carolers in Carts" golf cart parade is planned for December 22.
