Manhattan Beach Youth Council Seeks High School Students

Mar 27, 2023 05:58PM ● By Jeanne Fratello
Attention high schoolers: The Manhattan Beach Youth Council, a one-year professional development program for youth, is recruiting local students for its 2023/24 class.

The MBYC aims to expose young adults to a variety of careers and professions, and to inspire students to pursue their interests. The program, which begins next September and runs through April 2024, is open to sophomore, junior, and senior high school students who live or attend high school in the city of Manhattan Beach.

Each monthly workshop focuses on a different career arena and includes guest speakers who share their professional and personal journeys, offer advice, and share words of wisdom. Students are then challenged to apply what they learn from speakers toward solving real challenges and creating breakthroughs.

Past workshop topics have included architecture and design, investment management, mock trial and legal careers, sports journalism and entertainment, STEM and surfing, digital marketing, and the music industry.

Applications are now available at mb-yc.com. The organization will accept up to 80 applications in order to select 45 students for the program.

Interviews will take place on Saturday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 26. Applicants will receive an email after spring break with instructions on how to sign up for their interview. The new class will be notified at the beginning of May.

The MBYC is run by the MB/X Foundation.
