The Tour de Pier - an annual fundraiser held at the Manhattan Beach Pier - raised nearly $1.4 million for three non-profit cancer research and support organizations on Sunday.

All told, the Tour de Pier involved 1,500 riders, 350 stationary bikes, 300 volunteers, 75 sponsors, and thousands of spectators. The funds raised from the event will support the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, Cancer Support Community South Bay, and the Uncle Kory Foundation for Brain Cancer Research.

Since 2013, the Tour de Pier has raised more than $11.7 million dollars.

“We are thankful for our sponsors, donors, and the community who continue to make the Tour de Pier thrive each year,” said Lisa Manheim, co-founder of the Tour de Pier, in a statement. “The impact of this event allows us to remember and honor loved ones as well as help fund innovative cancer research with the goal of finding a cancer cure.”

Sunday's event also included a free health and fitness expo and a Kids Cardio Zone featuring the Los Angeles Kings and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Celebrity attendees included Jacob Bertrand (actor). Michael Davis (Los Angeles Chargers), Kristi Funk (celebrity doctor), Chip Kelly (UCLA Head Football Coach), Alexi Lalas (Fox Sports commentator and soccer legend), Peyton Elizabeth Lee (actress), Matt Leinart (former NFL player), Asante Samuel Jr. (Los Angeles Chargers), Rob Stone (Fox Sports commentator and Tour de Pier emcee), and John Thorrington (Co-President, LA Football Club).

The Tour de Pier will return next on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Learn more at www.tourdepier.com.
