Get ready to shop, eat, and enjoy services in Downtown Manhattan
Beach on Wednesday, when local businesses are giving a percentage of sales back
to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF) in support of the Manhattan
Beach public schools.
More than 50 downtown businesses have signed on to participate in Support Our Schools Day, with an agreement to donate between 5% and 20% of today's purchases to MBEF. ”We’re thrilled that so many downtown businesses are participating and hope our families will make a day of it," said Hilary Mahan, the executive director of MBEF. "It’s pretty amazing to be part of a community that demonstrates a strong commitment to its schools today and throughout the year."
Even the youngest kids will have a chance to celebrate after school, when they can meet the school mascots in Metlox Plaza between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. and participate in the Support Our Schools Scavenger Hunt. The scavenger hunt will lead participants throughout the downtown businesses to earn "carrot coins" for the Manhattan Beach Farmers’ Market. (To enter, stop by Shade Hotel or download and print the entry form here.)
A full list of businesses and their contributions follows. Please note that restrictions may apply for various businesses (including time of day that the discount will be honored, types of products, etc.). To view all of the restrictions, visit Support Our Schools.

The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation - which celebrated its 40th
anniversary in 2023 - is a community-driven fundraising organization
designed to supplement state funding for programs that promote innovation and
academic excellence in Manhattan Beach's public schools.
It was
founded in 1983 to provide a means for parents to invest in public
education for their children.
That need has grown from a few thousand dollars a year at the start to a
multi-million dollar commitment that helps to maintain rigorous
academics and educational opportunities that would otherwise not be
possible. In the 2022/23 school year, MBEF funded over $6.1 million to
MBUSD.
