Huynh Named New Principal of Mira Costa
Jun 26, 2024 10:09PM ● By Mb News StaffJennifer Huynh, the current principal of Manhattan Beach Middle School and a former vice principal at Mira Costa High School, has been named the new principal at Mira Costa. Confirmed unanimously by the MBUSD school board on Wednesday night, she will officially begin on July 1.
Huynh had served at Mira Costa High School as a vice
principal from 2021-2022, overseeing athletics, activities, and safety programs. She has served as principal of the middle school since the beginning of the 2022 school year.
At Wednesday's meeting, Huynh told the board that returning to the Mustang community "feels like coming home."
Huynh began her career in education in 2008
as a Language Arts, Vietnamese, AVID, and Student Leadership teacher in
the Albuquerque Public Schools District. Her other leadership roles have included serving as a community college adjunct faculty
member, operations manager, and prior to joining Mira Costa, as an assistant principal in Santa Ana
Unified School District.
Huynh replaces Karina Gerger, who left Mira Costa to become the director of personnel at the Paramount Unified School District. Gerger had served as principal since 2021.
MBUSD has begun a search for a new principal at the middle school, a spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
