Adult Male Found Deceased at Polliwog Park

UPDATE: The L.A. County Medical Examiner has identified the individual as Joris Pierret. The cause of death has been determined to be methamphetamine intoxication.
An adult male was found unresponsive at Polliwog Park on Monday morning, July 1 and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Manhattan Beach Police and Manhattan Beach Fire Department paramedics had responded to a medical aid call at around 7:00 a.m. regarding an unresponsive adult male on the ground near the pond.
The decedent is a 23-year-old foreign national who had
recently traveled into the country.
The investigation was concluded and the park was reopened at around noon.
Manhattan Beach Police released the following press release late Monday:
On Monday, July 1, 2024, at approximately 7:03 a.m., Manhattan Beach Police Department (MBPD) Officers and Manhattan Beach Fire Department Paramedics (MBFD) were dispatched to Polliwog Park at 1601 Manhattan Beach Boulevard for a medical aid call regarding an unresponsive adult male on the ground near the pond. MBFD pronounced the subject deceased at the scene.
MBPD Detectives and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene to investigate the death. Currently, the cause of death is “deferred” pending additional investigation by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, meaning additional testing and investigation are required to determine the cause of death. However, there were no obvious signs of foul play.
The decedent is believed to be a 23-year-old foreign national who had recently traveled into the country. Official identification is pending the notification of the next of kin and will be handled by the Coroner’s Office.
