TEDx Manhattan Beach to Feature 'Changemakers'

If you've been to a TEDx Manhattan Beach, you won't be surprised to learn that it is officially the number-one viewed TEDx event in the world, with more than 35 million views of its content. And this year's event, with the theme of "Changemakers" promises to be no different, with an inspiring lineup of speakers.

TEDx Manhattan Beach will be held on November 2 at Mira Costa High School from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now, with early bird prices ranging from $49 (students and seniors) to $79 (regular admission) to $160 (platinum ticket that includes post-event cocktails and dinner), plus fees. Prices will go up after October 15. 

Speakers Include Scientists, Storytellers 

 

This year's speakers include:

AJ Addae, an award-winning Ghanaian-American chemical biology PhD candidate at UCLA, and the founder of SULA LABS, a cosmetic laboratory that formulates and clinically tests skincare solutions and sunscreens for darker skin tones.

Eduardo Briceño, a keynote speaker, facilitator, and program provider who guides many of the world’s leading organizations in developing cultures of continuous improvement, innovation, and impact.

Kevan Doyle, a Manhattan Beach born and raised photographer and filmmaker whose work primarily focuses on the creative storytelling of athletes, artists, adventurers, and sustainability initiatives.

Travis Eichner, a Mira Costa junior and talented magician who has performed at the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood and on "America's Got Talent."

Rasheme Ellington, a distinguished chess instructor with Chess Tutors who has reached more than 30,000 students, guiding them from novice to expert levels.

Assal Habibi, an associate research professor of psychology and the director of the Center for Music, Brain and Society at USC. Her interdisciplinary research explores the impact of the arts, with a particular focus on music, on health and human development.

Jonmar, an "AI storyteller" with experience as an engineer and designer, founding and leading multiple app-focused companies. He’s created nearly 100 apps, with five breakthrough concepts reaching #1 globally.

Lila Mokhtari, a Mira Costa junior and the founder of Maji, a soap brand that hides a toy at the center of bar soaps to motivate kids to wash their hands. Maji donates a portion of its proceeds to the Thirst Project, providing children in need with access to clean water.

Bonnie Nixon, a "net zero strategist" who visualizes a new low carbon, resource-protected and just economy and serves as a corporate sustainability executive at LBCT, the greenest marine terminal in the world.

Madelyn Pieronek, a Manhattan Beach native and a freshman at Notre Dame majoring in chemical engineering who will speak on her personal journey with an ADHD diagnosis and the seldom discussed nuances of ADHD symptoms.

Vivian U, an observational astronomer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UC Irvine, who co-chairs the Habitable Worlds Observatory Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) Science Working Group.

William (Bill) Welser IV, a "human technologist" who tackles complex problems using storytelling, multidisciplinary teams of experts, and state-of-the-art methods and technologies. Hs is the CEO, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Lotic.ai, where he directs innovation, technology infrastructure and user experiences.
