Manhattan Beach Voter Registration and Early Vote Totals
By the time mail ballots were distributed this year, Manhattan Beach had 26,674 registered voters. Voters may continue to register, or re-register, through Election Day, which may affect overall voter totals.
At the end of Monday, October 28, county officials had received 5,570 ballots back from Manhattan Beach voters, representing 21% of all those registered. (See chart below.) Among local voters aged 65 or above, 36% had already returned their ballots.
The city's pace of early voting is well ahead of Los Angeles County overall, with just 14% of the county's registered voters having returned ballots so far.
Even with 21% of local ballots returned already, up to three-quarters of likely voters in Manhattan Beach might not yet have cast their ballots.
At the last presidential election, Nov. 3, 2020, when Manhattan Beach had slightly more registered voters than this year (27,037), voter turnout reached 87.4%, according to county statistics (see pg. 104).
In-person voting has diminished in recent years, in favor of absentee ballots filled out at home and either mailed, placed in drop boxes or brought to polling places. In-person voting was chosen by 17% of Manhattan Beach voters casting ballots in November 2020, with covid-19 prevalent, and by just 17.8% of voters who cast ballots in November 2022, after covid concerns had diminished somewhat.
