The Manhattan Beach Farmers Market, which has been displaced due to the Lot 3 demolition, received a warm reception in its first week in Civic Center Plaza.

Early Tuesday morning, as vendors began setting up in their new locations, large numbers of market regulars and curious onlookers began gathering outside Civic Center Plaza. By 11:00 a.m., when the market officially opened, the plaza was buzzing with activity.

"The reaction to the new Farmers Market location was overwhelmingly positive," said Jill Lamkin, the executive director of the Downtown Manhattan Beach Business and Professionals Association, which runs the farmers' market. "I cannot thank city staff enough for their support, coordination and communication in making this transition as smooth as possible. I am looking forward to welcoming our regular customers, as well as new visitors, to our vibrant new location."

Lamkin and vendors also praised market operator Cynthia Rogers for designing the new layout and ensuring that all 50+ vendors and community booths had appropriate loading and parking access.

Farmers Market Now in Civic Center Plaza

The Manhattan Beach Farmers Market is held every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The market's new location spans two spots in Civic Center Plaza, with half of the booths just at the top of the 13th Street steps, and with the other half in the upper Civic Center parking lot (between the Manhattan Beach City Hall and MB Police Department) - .

The market's usual spot on 13th Street was taken away due to the need for large trucks to pass through carrying debris from the soon-to-be-gone Lot 3. The farmers' market is expected to stay in its new spot for several weeks, as long as the demolition of Lot 3 is continuing.

With the new farmers market location, parking in the upper Civic Center lot will be closed to the public on Tuesdays until after 4:00 p.m. However, the parking spots on 13th Street between Valley and Morningside that would normally be blocked by the farmers market are now available on Tuesdays.
