Read on for more about each of the students:
Harrison Belden will be attending The University of Chicago next fall, where he will join the Maroons baseball team. An infielder on the Mira Costa Varsity team for two years, Harrison earned second-team all-area honors as a junior. As a freshman, he also competed in Cross Country, winning the Bay League Freshman Championship. Harrison is a four-year scholar-athlete and a member of the National Honor Society. Harrison’s baseball journey began at Hermosa Beach Little League’s Clark Field and now plays club baseball for TB SoCal. Harrison extends heartfelt thanks to his family, coaches, teammates, friends, and teachers for their support and guidance season after season. He’s looking forward to the next chapter of
his baseball career at UChicago. Go Maroons!
Ellie Black will be attending UC Davis and competing for the Aggies beach volleyball team. She is a defender and has been a member of the Mira Costa Beach Volleyball team since her freshman year and plays with Elite Beach Volleyball club. Ellie has also been a proud scholar-athlete throughout her years at Mira Costa. Ellie would like to thank her dad for everything he has done to make this accomplishment possible, her mom for always supporting her, and her coaches at Mira Costa and Elite for their guidance and dedication in helping her achieve her goals. She can’t wait to continue her beach volleyball career at UC Davis. Go Aggies!
Andrew Chapin will be attending the University of Southern California to play indoor mens' volleyball. He has played Mira Costa varsity volleyball since sophomore year and MB Surf club volleyball since he was 12. On both teams he is a setter and the team captain. Andrew has been a scholar-athlete each year at Costa. He is very thankful to his brother Zach for his love and support during his volleyball career and couldn't have done it without him by his side. He would also like to thank his parents for all their dedication to help him follow his dreams; his coaches and friends who have helped him grow and taught him along the way. Go Trojans!
Taylor Deckert will be attending the University of Southern California and competing on the women’s indoor volleyball team. Taylor has been the starting libero of the Mira Costa varsity volleyball team since her sophomore year, and she also competed for the beach team. She has been a proud scholar-athlete all four years and has received bay league libero of the year since her sophomore year. She played club for SCVC and won a national championship last summer in the 17 Open, and was also named an All-American. She would like to thank her family for being her #1 fans. She also thanks her teammates and coaches for helping her grow as a person and a player. Taylor is honored to have represented Costa, one of the top volleyball teams in the country. She is excited to continue her volleyball career at USC starting this January. Fight on!
Kate Donnelly will be attending UC Davis and competing on the women’s lacrosse team. Kate has been a varsity player since freshman year starting all years as a midfielder. Her freshman year she helped lead the Mustangs to their second place CIF finish. She has earned scholar-athlete recognition every year, team MVP, Bay League MVP and Daily Breeze Player of the Year. She also earned All-American honors as a junior. Kate would like to thank her coaches, family and friends for all their support. Go Aggies!
Sophie Guitron will attend Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida to major in sports management and play for the flag football team. Sophie played on the Mira Costa flag football team her junior and senior year, and participated in track and field for two years. Her favorite position is receiver, but also played quarterback and safety for Mira Costa. Sophie currently plays club flag football for the Conquer Chargers as a Receiver and Corner. She has also been a scholar-athlete since freshman year. Sophie would like to thank God as well as her family that have supported her through everything. She is very excited and can't wait to continue playing flag football in college. Go Seahawks!
Connor Jones will be attending Arizona State University to play baseball. CJ, CEEG, Jonesy…each name reflects every emotion he brings to the game of baseball because Connor believes baseball isn’t just a game; it’s a way of life. He has been playing baseball since he was only three years old and at age six told his coaches he wanted to pitch. When he took the mound at
age eight, he shocked everyone who saw he could pitch. While 12 years old and visiting Cooperstown, Connor pitched two winning games and pitching became his thing. Connor continued to excel, pitching through travel ball and now plays for the amazing Mustangs at Mira Costa. He looks forward to a successful and meaningful senior year, hopefully ending with a CIF championship win. Connor is determined to be highly successful at ASU and continue on to play in the major league. Go Sun Devils!
Mia Komsky will be competing for the University of Oregon beach volleyball team. She has been competing since 2017 and currently plays for Spiker Beach Volleyball Club in Huntington. Locally she trains with Anna Collier and Megan Burgdorf in Hermosa Beach as well as Jackie Guerra at Game Ready Performance. Mia has also been a scholar-athlete since her freshman year and plans to attend the Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon. Mia would like to thank her parents Shannon and Joe, along with the rest of her family for their continuous support. She would also like to thank her current coaches and trainers for pushing her in practices and her future coaches for giving her the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. She can't wait to be a part of the Oregon beach volleyball program. Go Ducks!
