Suspect Arrested for Sexual Assault in Manhattan Beach

A suspect was arrested following an investigation of a sexual assault that took place in downtown Manhattan Beach early Friday morning.

Manhattan Beach Police issued the following statement about the incident:

On August 22, 2025, at approximately 1:31 a.m., Manhattan Beach Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Ocean Drive for a sexual assault investigation.

Through the course of their investigation, officers determined that the suspect had followed the victim from the 100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard to the 1400 block of Ocean Drive, where the assault occurred. At approximately 1:37 a.m., responding officers were able to locate, detain, and subsequently arrest a male suspect in connection with the incident.

Police named the suspect as 25-year-old Geovanny Martinez of Los Angeles. He faces charges under California Penal Code § 289(a), forcible sexual penetration with a foreign object.

As the investigation continues, anyone who lives in the area of the assault and may have video surveillance, or anyone who was in the area at the time of the crime, is encouraged to contact the Manhattan Beach Police Department at [email protected] or Detective Stephanie Duncan at (310) 802-5126.

Detectives also urge anyone with information regarding additional victims or similar incidents to contact the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
