You thought Manhattan Beach did summer better than anyone? Wait 'til you see what happens in the fall! Now's the time to mark your calendars for Manhattan Beach's can't-miss fall and even winter events, from fair to fireworks.

October 4 -MB 10K Run: This iconic event features more than 4,000 runners and winds through neighborhoods across Manhattan Beach's Tree Section and Sand Section. Highlights include local bands, neighborhood cheering committees, and a lively race expo with snacks and giveaways. (Don't forget to register before it sells out!)

October 4-5 - Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair: Now in its 52nd year, the Hometown Fair is a two-day extravaganza featuring a parade, games, food and drink, music, arts and crafts, and kids' rides. The event is produced by an all-volunteer board for the benefit of the community and school/nonprofit groups.

October 12 - Pancake Breakfast: Support your Manhattan Beach firefighters at their third annual pancake breakfast. For $10/person, enjoy pancakes with your neighbors while supporting the Manhattan Beach Firefighters Association. 

October 18-19 - American Martyrs Parish Fair: Join American Martyrs for its 54th annual Parish Fair, featuring games, food, music, and raffles.

October 19 - Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk: The Friendship Walk, now in its 16th year, rallies thousands of families and friends to walk from Manhattan Beach Pier to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back in support of the Friendship Foundation and public education foundations.

October 19 -Great Pumpkin Race: One Manhattan Beach's craziest traditions, the Great Pumpkin Race, features wildly decorated pumpkins careening down the steep hill on Manhattan Beach Blvd. toward the pier. The grand prize winner - the owner of the pumpkin winning the most races without wiping out - gets bragging rights and a giant trophy.

October 25 - Family Halloween Carnival: Manhattan Beach's Parks and Rec Department is hosting its 37th annual Halloween carnival, featuring games, a costume contest and parade, Haunted House, cupcake walk, treats, activities and more, for ages 2 to 14.

October 29 - Trunk or Treat: Celebrate a safe Halloween with the Manhattan Beach Police Department. Manhattan Beach police cars and fire trucks will each be decorated with a different theme; travel from vehicle to vehicle to collect treats at each one. Tacos will be available for sale.

November 7-15 - Mira Costa Fall Play: The award-winning Mira Costa High School Drama/Tech Program presents "A Beautiful Day In November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes," a play that turns the quintessential American family dinner into a high-stakes sporting event. Show dates are November 7, 8, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Tickets go on sale October 18.

November 8 - Rotary VetFest: Open to the public and free for all veterans and first responders, the festival features live music, food trucks, kids activities, and resource booths. The event raises critical funds for organizations like Operation Mend (UCLA), Team Rubicon, Pin Up for Vets, the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation, and other veteran-focused non-profits.

November 19 - Holiday Open House and Pier Lighting: The annual Pier Lighting and Holiday Open House is the official start of the holiday season in Manhattan Beach. Downtown Manhattan Beach's local restaurants, retail stores and businesses thank their customers and community for their support and patronage throughout the year with light bites and souvenirs, while the pier gets lit up in all of its holiday colors.

December 13 - Santa Stroll: Join hundreds of Santas as they stroll the Strand from Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach, in support of Mychal's Learning Place.

December 14 - Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks: Manhattan Beach's beloved holiday fireworks tradition returns on Sunday, December 14. The day's events include a snow park, music, and kids' activities, culminating in the fireworks show at 7:00 p.m.
