Holiday Fun: Santas, The Grinch, Fireworks and More in Manhattan Beach

Dec 12, 2025 10:40AM ● By MB News Staff
After tonight's Winter Concert featuring Mira Costa's orchestras, this weekend offers a variety of holiday thrills, from roving Santas and The Grinch on Saturday to the traditional holiday fireworks show on Sunday evening.

Santas and The Grinch

The fun kicks off early on Saturday morning, December 13, with the 7th annual Santa Stroll benefiting Mychal's Learning Place. Hundreds of Santas (and friends) will participate in a 5K fun run/walk/stroll from the Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza to the Manhattan Beach Pier and back.

All ages and abilities welcome; four-legged friends welcome as well. The fun run begins at 9:00 a.m., but don't miss the pet costume contest and Santa's arrival, starting at 8:30 a.m.

You might spot the Grinch – and Cindy Lou – dishing out "merry mischief" at the Manhattan Village Shopping Center this weekend, Saturday between 2:00-4:00 p.m.

They will "roam the center spreading laughter, lighthearted 'roasts,' and joyful surprises," according to Manhattan Village. "If you catch the Grinch in action, you might just be rewarded for your festive spirit."

What's that? You're looking for another holiday fun run next weekend?

You're in luck, as Culture Brewing has its inaugural "Bier to Bier" run (Instagram link) on Saturday, Dec. 20, beginning at 10:00 a.m. sharp, kicking off at Culture (downtown on MB Blvd.), continuing out to the Hermosa Pier and back – a run they estimate at 3.8 miles.

The run is sponsored by Village Runner and Asics. Tickets are $20 and Culture promises holiday-themed gifts, while Asics will offer runners the chance to try out new shoes. Holiday costumes are "highly encouraged."

Fireworks Sunday

Sunday, December 14, marks the traditional MB Holiday Fireworks show in Manhattan Beach, rain or shine (forecast is for clear skies).

The festivities leading up to the fireworks take up most of the afternoon, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Manhattan Ave between 11th Street and Manhattan Beach Blvd.

The multi-faceted celebration opens to the general public at 4:00 p.m. (Friendship Foundation attendees may enjoy the snow park starting at 3:00 p.m.) Festivities include a snow park, strolling carolers, photo ops with the Santa sled, a menorah lighting at 6:00 p.m., live music from Mira Costa's jazz band as well as Joe's Band, culminating in the fireworks show at 7:00 p.m.

The snow park will feature two 50-foot sled runs and two snow play areas, as well as a snowman for family photos. For admission to the snow park, please bring food or unwrapped toy donations for the YMCA Adventure Guides charity.
