Do you know a Mira Costa High School graduate who deserves to be in the Hall of Fame? Hall of Fame organizers are seeking nominees to be honored in 2026.
Only Costa graduates may be nominated, but anyone may nominate a candidate. All nominations must be received on or before March 15, 2026 to be considered for induction at the Hall of Fame ceremony in the fall.
Nomination information is available here.
Since its beginning in 2012, the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame has honored 70 graduates. The hall of fame is unique in that any and all fields of endeavor, service, and achievement are considered. Former inductees include Olympic athletes Mike Dodd, Holly McPeak and Eric Fonoimoana; actors Rachel Bloom and Leslie Becker; former mayors Russ Lesser, Gil Archuletta, and Steve Napolitano; newscaster Michele Tafoya; and multiple authors, teachers, coaches, musicians, and scientists.
The program began as the idea of legendary 40-year Costa teacher Bill Cooper who believed in the importance of honoring outstanding graduates as well as the value of positive role models for students. Mira Costa’s program takes place each fall in late September or early October, starting with a morning reception in the library, followed by a school-wide induction ceremony in the auditorium, a luncheon for the inductees and their guests and the visitation of classrooms, and recognition under the lights on the 50-yard line during half-time of a home football game in Waller Stadium.
