(MBEF representatives receive donations from the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk.)
The Skechers Foundation this week distributed more than $3.1 million in proceeds from its Pier to Pier Friendship Walk to local education foundations and the Friendship Foundation. The Manhattan Beach Education Foundation received $280,000.
The Friendship Walk raised more than $3.3 million in 2025, contributing to a total of over $31 million donated since 2009. Walkers participate as part of a team that raises funds for their respective groups.
The money donated to local public school education foundations goes toward reducing class sizes; protecting teaching positions; updating labs, libraries, and facilities; and expanding STEAM, arts, language, counseling, and mental health programs.
Money raised for the Friendship Foundation supports 60+ in-person and virtual programs and benefits the new Friendship Campus (The Greenberg Family / Skechers Center) — a first-of-its-kind,
$70 million, 64,000-square-foot life center opening in summer 2026 in Redondo Beach.
The walk also contributes to the Skechers Foundation National Scholarship Program, which has awarded more than
$2 million to students with financial need demonstrating excellence in academics, athletics, and leadership.
The checks presented to beneficiaries this week included:
- $1 million to the Friendship Foundation
- $425,000 to the Torrance Education Foundation
- $290,000 to the Peninsula Education Foundation
- $283,000 to the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation
- $280,000 to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation
- $225,000 to the Redondo Beach Education Foundation
- $212,900 to the El Segundo Education Foundation
The 18th Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship Walk will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
