A fundraiser has been created for the family of Ana Angelica Moreira, who was killed on June 9 when a car drove through the front of a Manhattan Beach laundromat.
The SUV crashed through the glass walls of Suds & Duds, a coin-op laundry,
at Aviation Blvd. and 10th Street during rush hour that day, just
after 6 p.m. According to witnesses, Moreira, 61, had been sitting at the front of the building reading a book while waiting for laundry to be done.
The GoFundMe for Moreira, organized by her employers in Manhattan Beach, has brought in nearly $6,000 at press time.
"For more than eight years, Ana was part of our family. While many knew
her as our housekeeper, to us she was so much more," wrote Flavia Falquetti in the GoFundMe. "She was a friend, a
confidant, a constant presence in our home, and someone we loved deeply.
She celebrated life’s joys with us, stood by us through difficult
times, and became woven into the fabric of our family."
Moreira had lived here in the United States with her nephew and his girlfriend, but her son and much of her family remain in Brazil.
"If you knew Angelica, you knew how fiercely she loved and how hard she
worked. She spent her life taking care of others. Now, we hope to come
together and take care of the family she leaves behind," wrote Falquetti.
