The Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach has officially named its 2026–2027 Board of Directors, placing former Manhattan Beach Mayor Richard Montgomery at the helm as incoming president. The announcement arrives alongside a landmark achievement for the organization, which has now raised and distributed over $1 million in scholarships over the last 35 years.
Since 2008 alone, the club has contributed $132,300 in scholarship funding, benefiting more than 220 El Camino College students while simultaneously supporting countless Mira Costa High School graduates in their pursuit of higher education.

Montgomery, who previously served as club secretary, programs director, and service director, says his primary goal is to elevate the public’s understanding of Rotary’s local impact. He aims to make the organization’s community work more visible across Manhattan Beach and the broader South Bay region.
“Many people know Rotary for its global efforts to eradicate polio and provide clean water in developing countries,” said Montgomery. “But Rotary is also about ‘Service Above Self.’ Our members complete hundreds of service projects locally, supporting students, families and community organizations. One of my first initiatives will be increasing annual scholarship funding for Mira Costa students from $60,000 to $80,000.”
The newly appointed voting Board of Directors for the 2026–2027 term includes:
President-Elect: Kelly Stroman
Past President: Cedric Tuck-Sherman

Treasurers: Ted Iantuono and Mark Maruyama
