Two potential explosive devices were removed from a garage in East Manhattan Beach on Thursday, and the area has been cleared, according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
The devices were discovered at a residence in the 1100 block of Chestnut Ave. while the garage was being cleaned out.
Manhattan
Beach police officers responded, evacuating a limited area and
closing streets as a safety precaution. Westbound Manhattan Beach Blvd. was briefly shut down at Meadows Ave. and reopened by 3:30 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Department Bomb Squad arrived and, "out of an abundance of caution," according to the Manhattan Beach Police Department, took
possession of the items.
MBPD later thanked the Sheriff's Department and confirmed that there is no further threat to the community.
