Robert Udovich, owner founder of Manhattan Beach's Brooklyn Brick Oven Pizza, is seeking support from the community through a GoFundMe fundraiser while he recovers from an auto accident. 

Udovich founded the iconic pizza restaurant on Sepulveda in 1988 and has worked there ever since, now with his son. Brooklyn Brick Oven Pizza is known, along with its pizza, for its support of local youth sports teams. 

Udovich was seriously injured in a car accident in September 2025, leading to the need for a total hip replacement in August 2026. 

"At 68 years old, recovering from major surgery has made it extremely difficult for me to do the physical work I have always done at the restaurant," he wrote on his GoFundMe page. "At the same time, the restaurant has been dealing with rising expenses, repairs and financial pressure. After spending so many years helping our community, I am asking the community for some help keeping Brooklyn Brick Oven Pizza going while I recover and get back on my feet."

At press time, the GoFundMe had raised more than $6,200 out of a $25,000 goal. 

"Every donation, no matter the amount, will help us keep the doors open, take care of our employees, handle necessary expenses and give this family restaurant a chance to continue serving Manhattan Beach for years to come," said Udovich.
