Weigh in on the Future of Public Art in Manhattan Beach

Oct 07, 2026 10:45PM ● By MB News Staff
What should the next wave of public art projects in Manhattan Beach look like? The city is giving community members their chance to weigh in.

The city is developing a new Public Art Master Plan - a vision that will guide the city's public art program over the next decade. And city officials are hoping to look beyond traditional murals: Some of the choices offered include Interactive artworks you can touch, move through, or influence; sound-based experiences; or even nighttime experiences.

More information and a link to the survey can be found here.

The City first established its public art program in 2002 with the adoption of a 1% for Art ordinance, creating a dedicated funding source for public art through private development. Since then, the city has commissioned permanent sculptures, murals, and other works throughout the community. As Manhattan Beach's Cultural Arts program continues to evolve, the city plans to continue to adapt in how it bring art and creativity into the public realm.

Want a more detailed way to weigh in? Attend the Public Art Master Plan Mixer on Friday, October 11.
