Fatal Multi-Car Collision Shuts Down Manhattan Beach Blvd.

A multi-car collision at Manhattan Beach Blvd. and Aviation on Friday night resulted in one fatality. An MBPD vehicle was among those damaged.
The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Manhattan Beach Blvd. outside McDonalds.
Video from the scene on the Citizen app appeared to show a damaged passenger vehicle and damaged MBPD vehicle facing eastbound, while a massively damaged pickup truck faced the wrong direction (westbound) on the street.
Manhattan Beach police released the following statement early Saturday morning:
On October 9, 2026, at approximately 10:12 p.m., a traffic collision was witnessed by an on-duty Manhattan Beach Police Department Officer, whose vehicle and an additional vehicle were then also struck by the collision. The collision occurred in the intersection of Aviation Boulevard and Manhattan Beach Boulevard. Four vehicles were involved, including a marked Manhattan Beach Police Department vehicle.
Responding Manhattan Beach Police Department (MBPD) and Manhattan Beach Fire Department (MBFD) personnel arrived on scene and discovered multiple injured parties. One involved party was declared deceased on scene. Multiple injured parties were transported to a local hospital, including the involved MBPD officer, who was transported for non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact Traffic Officer Gaunt at (310) 802-5098.
