Manhattan Beach Library Speaker Series Featuring Cory Richards
Join the City of Manhattan Beach and the Manhattan Beach Library for its inaugural kick-off of the event in its new Manhattan Beach Library Speaker Series. On Saturday, November 16, join renowned American alpinist, photographer, and author Cory Richards as he shares insights from his latest book, Bi-Polar. Richards is a master storyteller whose journey has taken him to the most remote corners of the globe, capturing breathtaking images for National Geographic and chronicling high-risk expeditions that push the boundaries of adventure. With a career steeped in exploration, he offers a unique perspective on the human experience, shaped by his own diagnosis of Bipolar 2 at age fourteen. Richards' newest book, Bi-Polar presents a stunning visual collection of 300 photographs, organized around the emotional polarities that define both his life and work. Through themes of hope and fear, pride and shame, awe and contempt, culminating in the profound concept of love, he invites us to reflect on the complexities of the human condition. This striking collection not only showcases jaw-dropping landscapes and vanishing ways of life but also explores the intricate relationship between humans and the natural world.
