Join artist Keith Magruder as he offers insight into his solo exhibition, Let Me Fix You a Plate, currently on view at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. During this artist talk, Magruder will reflect on the stories, histories, and creative techniques that shape his work—from intricately sculpted paper objects to luminous watercolor paintings. Rooted in themes of ancestry, memory, and the richness of Black cultural traditions, Magruder’s work invites us to consider how knowledge, identity, and legacy are passed down through generations. The conversation will explore key pieces from the exhibition, including references to Bruce’s Beach and Magruder’s use of food, quilts, and butterflies as symbols of remembrance and connection.
