Why Do Dolphins Surf?

Special Event at the Manhattan Beach Library

We can't ask the dolphins why they surf, but this event's four panelists have been up close with the dolphins and can tell of their experiences and give their opinions. For teens and adults.

Panel members include:

Keani Honda-Snow – Captain of the Redondo Beach High School Surfing Team and a member of the South Bay Boardriders Club.

John Dorsey – Professor emeritus in environmental science from Loyola Marymount University and a watershed management researcher.

Jason Shanks – Founder of the surf shop Nikau Kai Waterman located in downtown Manhattan Beach.

Eric Martin – Roundhouse Aquarium’s aquarist and head of its Coastal Bottlenose Dolphin Project.

The panel will be chaired by John Roberts, a member of the Aquarium Board of Directors and a biology professor emeritus from CSU, Dominguez Hills.
