Pack is the founder of Porto Surf Crew — and the owner of the iconic El Porto Surf Shop & Player’s Liquor, serving the El Porto, California neighborhood and surf community since 1963. He purchased the shop in 2017 to keep it locally-owned and surfer-led — with the proceeds of his first novel, Land Of The Free (Harbinger, 2014) — the direct result of the journey documented in Road Journals.
