Who Was Rosecrans?
Ages 55+ only. No reservations necessary.
Today, Rosecrans is just a name on a street sign, and the man it honors is largely forgotten. But in his lifetime, William Starke Rosecrans was a powerful force in national as well as local history.
Join us on July 29th to hear a talk about this remarkable man, the son of an Ohio storekeeper, a prominent Civil War general who might have become President but for an undelivered telegram.
The speaker is one of our most eminent local historians, Dr. Gary Hartzell: outstanding presenter, retired professor, former principal and history teacher at Mira Costa High School, and longtime resident of Manhattan Beach.
Every time you drive down Rosecrans, you’ll thank yourself for attending.
This free presentation will be July 29th from 10:00 AM – Noon at Joslyn Community Center. This program is for 55 and older and reservations are not necessary. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute membership and fall lecture series information will be available.
