Manhattan Beach Schools Celebrate Graduation

It was a triumphant week for students across Manhattan Beach this week, as Mira Costa High School, Manhattan Beach Middle School, and five Manhattan Beach elementary schools celebrated graduation, promotion, and culmination ceremonies.

At Mira Costa High School, more than 530 graduates of the Class of 2015 came to celebrate the end of their high school careers on June 18. According to this map compiled by the La Vista newspaper, seniors are headed to colleges across the country, as well as gap years, travel, and military commitments.

At Mira Costa's All Awards assembly, senior Derek Zeoli won the Mira Costa Student of the Year award for his academic and performing arts achievements at Mira Costa. The Student of the Year award is given for a student’s academics, extracurricular and community service involvement.

Manhattan Beach Middle School honored more than 450 graduates at its June 17 promotion ceremony, The ceremony featured student speakers including Student Body President Max Haber and promotion speakers Lauren Stargardter, Liam Barberi, and Kayan Mishra.

The five Manhattan Beach elementary schools - Grandview, Meadows, Pacific, Pennekamp, and Robinson - also conducted culmination ceremonies for its 5th grade classes this week.
