It's time for the Hometown Fair and MB10K race - one of the biggest weekends in the year in Manhattan Beach. Here's all you need to know:
Starting Friday at 10:00 a.m., Valley Drive will be closed in both directions from Blanche Rd. to 15th Street until Sunday evening due to the Hometown Fair. Starting Saturday at 7:00 a.m., 15th Street will be closed in both directions from Valley Drive to Highland Avenue as well as northbound Valley Drive from 11th Street to 15th Street. Traffic impacts related to the race will last until about 12:00 p.m.

MB10K

The 42nd Annual Manhattan Beach 10K will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 7:30 a.m. It features of the most scenic 10K courses in the South Bay with live music and volunteer mile timers calling out split times at every mile (and of course, Manhattan Beach's famous 10K announcer Susie Young). Over 3,500 runners will take to the streets for the course through downtown and residential Manhattan Beach, finishing at the Manhattan Beach Pier (see street closures listed above). For more details, see the MB10K course map and exit routes.

The race has been run every year since 1978. It is organized by a private group of individuals known as the Manhattan Beach 10k Race Committee. The race is a nonprofit event, with proceeds going to community fitness-related causes and scholarships. The P.I.E.R. Group...(Participated In Every Race) can be recognized on race day by the color of their race shirt - theirs are printed on a different color to distinguish them from the crowd and to honor their commitment to the MB10K.

Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair:

The 47th Annual Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6. The fair was started by a group of residents in 1972 who wanted to promote community spirit within Manhattan Beach. Many of its original traditions, including a parade, local craft booths, non-profit food and game booths, and entertainment for children and adults, continue to this day. The fair is produced by an all-volunteer board of twenty.
