Vaccines Now Available for MBUSD Family Members

Apr 20, 2021 04:05PM ● By Jeanne Fratello

Battalion Chief Tyler Wade of the Manhattan Beach Fire Department delivers one of the first vaccines to a local educator through the Beach Cities Health District's vaccination center at Adventureplex in Manhattan Beach.

Now that the COVID-19 vaccine has been made available to all eligible employees and students of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, that opportunity has now been opened for MBUSD family members.

Editor's note: By the end of the day on Tuesday, April 20, more than 200 family members had signed up for the vaccine opportunity. On Thursday, BCHD announced that all L.A. County workers or residents over age 16 could sign up for a Saturday appointment at Adventureplex.

The vaccines are being offered through the Beach Cities Health District's vaccine clinic at AdventurePlex - 1701 Marine Avenue, Manhattan Beach, CA.

Any family member of an MBUSD staff member or student who is eligible for the vaccine is welcome to request a spot, MBUSD superintendent Mike Matthews announced on Tuesday.

The clinic will still be a “closed” clinic in that people will need to have an appointment to enter. Unique access codes to make the appointments will be provided on a first-come, first served basis.

Those who are interested are asked to complete this form and a code with instructions will be e-mailed, as supplies last.

The AdventurePlex vaccination center is the result of a massive South Bay-wide collaborative effort between public school districts, city officials, and the Beach Cities Health District. Manhattan Beach and other South Bay educators began receiving their first vaccines there in early March.
