Halloween Golf Cart Parade Brings Zany, Spooky Fun to Manhattan Beach
Nov 01, 2021 12:00PM ● By Jeanne FratelloSunday's 2nd annual Halloween Golf Cart Parade through Manhattan
Beach inspired creativity and fun with spooky, funny, and zany entries.
More
40 golf carts (along with Manhattan Beach Police and fire personnel)
rolled through town displaying their best Halloween decorations. The
carts were greeted by cheers and waves as they circled around Bruce's
Beach and then toured through Downtown Manhattan Beach.
"The big smiles and enthusiastic waves from everyone definitely made the
2nd Annual Halloween golf cart parade a huge success," said organizer Shawn Giaconi. "It started at
noon when many carts arrived with impressive decorations and every rider
was in costume and great spirit. Driving around our beautiful town,
there were parade spectators waving and smiling throughout the route. The best part was having our amazing MBFD and MBPD in their official
vehicles and along for the festive ride. It really was the perfect way
to start Halloween!"
Prizewinners
included a "Just Married" corpse bride and groom; a Moana-themed
family; and a safari family including a golden retriever "lion."
Other golf carts included Gotham City's Arkham Asylum, a circus cart, and a "candy cart" that tossed out candy to spectators.
The parade wasn't limited to golf carts either. A "skeleton crew" of bike riders also joined in the fun.
The event raised more than $350 in donations for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
Future Parades Planned
More parade events are on the horizon, said Giaconi. Golf cart owners should mark their calendars and start getting their carts decorated for the following holiday events:
Saturday, November 27: The Manhattan Village Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. The parade will include decorated golf carts, the Mira Costa marching band, holiday characters & Santa on a float. The tree lighting ceremony will include the Mira Costa and Middle School choir.
Thursday, December 2: The Holiday Stroll in North Manhattan Beach will begin at 5:00 p.m. A
golf cart parade (and Santa) will kick off the event. Locals are
encouraged to come have some fun and support more than 75 local businesses.
