Manhattan Village Parade Marks the Start of the Holiday Season
Nov 28, 2021 10:37AM ● By Jeanne FratelloMarking the official start to the holiday season, a holiday parade at Manhattan Village on Saturday featured Santa, decorated golf carts, police and fire vehicles, and the Mira Costa High School marching band and drill squad.
This year's parade was the first to take place at the newly designed mall, and it was the first since the pandemic. Although the parade did not take its traditional route indoors through the mall, the new Village Plaza served as the central gathering spot after the parade.
Following the parade, there was a tree lighting ceremony of the 41-foot holiday tree in Village Plaza, along with entertainment by Jingle 5, The Beat Buds, the Mira Costa High School choir, and Elf Games.
The golf carts were organized by Shawn Giaconi of the Golf Cart Crew, which has actively taken the lead on holiday parades this year, including the famous Halloween Golf Cart Parade.
Note: If you missed this holiday parade, you'll still have two more chances to see the golf carts decorated for the holidays.
- The Golf Cart Crew will participate in the Holiday Stroll in North Manhattan Beach on Thursday, December 2, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
- On Sunday, December 5, the golf carts will parade through Downtown Manhattan Beach starting at 4:30 p.m. for the Downtown Manhattan Beach Local Love event.
Also note: Santa will continue traveling around town on his float on weeknights through December 17. See his full schedule at Santa Float Prepares for Nightly Rounds in Manhattan Beach.
