As of Friday in Manhattan Beach, masks will no longer be required when visiting City Hall and other city
facilities, including the Police and Fire Department
lobby, community centers, and the Manhattan Beach Art Center.
The city made the announcement following the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's new Health Officer Order
(HOO) that now aligns with the State Public Health Officer Order dated
February 28, 2022. Under this modified order, indoor masking is strongly
recommended, but not required, for vaccinated and unvaccinated
individuals in most indoor settings with the exception of
some high-risk settings.
The modified HOO requires masking in settings such as
public transit and emergency shelters, health care facilities,
correctional and detention facilities, homeless shelters, and long-term
care facilities.
As per the
modified HOO, masks will also remain a requirement for Manhattan Beach's Dial-a-Ride program and
at its jail.
Masking May Still Be Required By Some Businesses
For outdoor mega events, bars, breweries, distilleries, nightclubs, and lounges, pre-entry vaccination or recent negative test verification for attendees is recommended, but not required.
However, In
settings where masks are strongly recommended, businesses, venue
operators, and hosts may still choose to require masking irrespective
of vaccination status.
As a reminder, no person can be prevented from wearing a mask as a condition of participation in an activity or entry into a business.
The city's lifting of masking requirements follows similar movement in the public schools. Manhattan Beach Unified School District announced last week that masking will no longer be mandatory at Manhattan Beach public schools as of March 12.
