Celebrate Labor Day Weekend in Manhattan Beach

On Labor Day Weekend, Manhattan Beach may be a little quieter than Hermosa Beach where Fiesta Hermosa is going on - but there's still plenty to do, see, and of course eat, right here in town.

Dine In - Or Out


Thursday until - ?: The Strand House is offering a Fresh Fig Pizza Special, made with Croatian figs grown in Manhattan Beach by Zislis Group Owner Michael Zislis. The "most local" pizza in town also features smoked scamorza, nduja, walnut rosemary pesto, and honey. Offered until the figs run out.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: Fishing With Dynamite is offering a Labor Day Picnic Kit. The kit serves four and includes "lobstah" rolls, watermelon and feta salad, potato salad, and a peach custard parfait for $225 (order ahead for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday).

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday: Simmzy's is serving brunch on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday this week. (Look for the Sweet Churro Waffle with cinnamon, sugar, and our housemade caramel sauce.) Plus, when you dine in at Simmzy's, you get 20% off all merchandise from their new Simmzy's merch carts.

Hear Live Music


Thursday at 5:00 p.m.: Hear the duo of Mike & Jeff spin unique versions of perennial favorites as well as a few sublime originals, while you sit outside and enjoy a flight of wine at MBWineCo.

Thursday at 7:00 p.m.: Check out local duo Pricey Diggs (offering an eclectic mix of R&B, soft rock, soul, reggae, country, jazz standards, and Latin) at StrandBar at The Strand House.

Friday at 6:00 p.m.: The Free Radical Trio will perform at Zinc @ Shade Hotel from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Friday at 6:00 p.m.: Head over to Westdrift for its last Live Local event of the summer, featuring live music, JayZ Tacos, and Santa Monica Brew Works beers.

Friday at 8:00 p.m.: Better Daze will peform at StrandBar at The Strand House.

Saturday at 6:00 p.m.: Pricey Diggs will perform  at Zinc @ Shade Hotel from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Saturday at 8:00 p.m.: DJ Shibuya will spin tunes at StrandBar at The Strand House.

Sunday at 1:00 p.m.: DJ Cool Whip and DJ Shibuya will spin tunes at StrandBar at The Strand House.

Sunday at 5:00 p.m.: It's the final week of Manhattan Beach Concerts in the Park at Polliwog Park, featuring The Blue Breeze Band (Motown/R&B/Soul/Funk). Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics, then sit back and relax to the sounds of summer. The concert is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. but if you want a good spot, be prepared to set up early.

See Some Art


Friday at 5:00 p.m.: Head over to Culture Brewing for the gallery opening of an exhibit by artist Eric Sanders of Studio Sanders.

 

Wednesday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: See the very best in local art at the ongoing Manhattan Beach Community Art Exhibition at the Manhattan Beach Art Center. The exhibit runs through October 2.

Stay Cool
