Manhattan Beach students earned top rankings in this year's international Math Kangaroo Competition.
The annual contest draws thousands
of students in grades K-12, with a focus on improving
students' math scores and teaching them new strategies for solving word
and logic problems, helping them with critical thinking and gaining
confidence in the classroom.
The Math Kangaroo exam, which takes place on the third Thursday in March, is a 75-minute multiple-choice test. There are 24 questions for students in grades 1-4 and 30
questions for students in grades 5 and higher. The top score is 96 for grades 1-4, and 120 for grades 5-12.
Math Kangaroo Centers to help prepare students were located this year at Manhattan Beach Middle School, Mathnasium, and Manhattan Academy.
