Manhattan Beach celebrated the 4th of July this year with a golf cart parade, a beach tennis tournament, and countless beach parties on a picture-perfect Monday.

The golf cart parade drew at least 17 fully decorated golf carts (at last count) that rode in a caravan from Pacific Elementary School in Manhattan Beach, through Hermosa Beach, down to Redondo Beach, and then back to Manhattan Beach for a BBQ celebration at Shade Hotel

The parade, produced by the Golf Cart Crew of Manhattan Beach, raised funds for the Manhattan Beach Police and Fire Departments.

Manhattan Beach City Councilmember Joe Franklin was on hand, distributing "Thank You MBPD and MBFD" signs for the carts.

Down at the beach, "The Godfather" Beach Tennis Tournament drew scores of players and spectators.

And of course, 4th of July parties and gatherings lined the Strand and the beach.

Earlier in the day at the Manhattan Beach Pier, Nikau Kai sponsored the Supsquatch Invitational, which gathered eager surfers and paddlers to try out the giant 16-foot paddleboards known as Supsquatches.

The downtown and beach festivities will continue through the month, with the Where's Waldo scavenger hunt and the sandcastle contest benefiting the Roundhouse Aquarium.
